Like several of the songs on “Rapport frå eit grensehotell”, this one started off as a poem. Someone invited me to an event where Åsmund Bjørnstad read his translations of Rainer Maria Rilke. Beautiful poems, among them several sonnets, and the next morning I sat down and wrote a sonnet of my own. About wanderlust and love and “the ties that bind”, that Johnny Cash sings about.
