“Sandharpesong” has lyrics by renowned Norwegian author Kjartan Fløgstad and music by Tom Roger Aadland. The two met when Aadland premiered Fløgstad’s translation of blues legend Robert Johnson’s “Love in Vain” a few years ago, and they have kept in touch since. Even at first reading, a melody came to Aadland. “I’d really like to put music to this one”, he wrote to Fløgstad. “That’s what I was hoping for”, was the reply. The song has been recorded with just classical guitar and harmonium accompanying the expressive vocals.
